Is it possible for a Child to have Diabetes?

Although it can happen at any age, type 2 diabetes frequently strikes young teenagers in children. Adolescent boys are less likely than adolescent girls to develop type 2 diabetes. It is most usually brought on by an autoimmune condition where the immune system of the body obliterates the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. For children with type 1 diabetes, daily insulin injections are required to maintain normal blood glucose levels.

Infancy, toddlerhood, or adolescence are all possible ages for your child to develop type 1 diabetes. It typically emerges after the age of 5. Others, though, don't experience it until their late 30s. For the sake of your child's health, be aware of the signs of type 1 diabetes.

Up until recently, type 2 diabetes was known as adult-onset diabetes since it hardly ever affected young children and teenagers. Today, almost one-third of young people in America are overweight, an issue that is directly linked to the rise in children with type 2 diabetes, some of whom are as young as 10 years old.
